XTRA4™
Happy Hour at the
2026 EBAA Annual Meeting
June 3 /6 – Indianapolis – US

Highlights
Thank you for joining us for the XTRA4™ Happy Hour at the 2026 EBAA Annual Meeting! If you were unable to attend, I wanted to share some highlights with you.
Our speakers walked through the growing adoption of XTRA4™ across the country — now in use at 8 eye banks, with 16 more actively evaluating — and shared real-world implementation insights from UT Southwestern, which has processed 780 tissues with zero adverse outcomes since its launch in November 2025. VisionGift’s preliminary clinical data from over 1,000 corneas showed tissue suitability rates virtually identical to Optisol-GS (83% vs. 82% for all endothelial use), with no increase in adverse transplant events — reinforcing XTRA4™ as a dependable transition for eye banks.
The standout data of the evening came from CorneaGen’s Patrick Conrick, whose real-world DSAEK processing study (n=2,279) demonstrated that XTRA4™-stored tissue yields significantly thinner starting corneas (61% under 500µm vs. 45% for Optisol-GS), a 98.7% DSAEK success rate — the highest of all three media tested — and a 38% reduction in perforation risk versus Optisol-GS. Graft thickness stability in preloaded systems was also maintained up to 96 hours.

The evidence is clear: XTRA4™ is redefining what eye banks can expect from a storage medium. If you’re ready to explore what a transition could look like for your organization, we’d love to hear from you.
